چکیده
Varroa mite is the major threat to western honey bee, Apis mellifera, and cause of significant economic losses in apiculture industry. destructor feeds on brood adult bees being responsible for vectoring virus infections other diseases. This study analyses role associated pathogens, such as viruses or fungus Nosema ceranae, their relationships regarding viability bee colony. It has been carried out during one beekeeping season, with subspecies A. m. iberiensis, commonly used industry Spain. Our shows a relationship between presence viral infection by deformed wing acute paralysis virus. ceranae behaved an opportunistic pathogen. In addition, this explored potential naturally occurring subset peptides, humoral immunity bees. The expression antimicrobial peptides abaecin melittin showed levels

Effect of Varroa destructor, Wounding and Varroa Homogenate on Gene Expression in Brood and Adult Honey Bees
Honey bee (Apis mellifera) gene expression related to immunity for hymenoptaecin (AmHym) and defensin-1 (AmDef-1), longevity for vitellogenin (AmVit2) and stem cell proliferation for poly U binding factor 68 kDa (AmPuf68) was compared following Varroa destructor parasitism, buffer injection and injection of V. destructor compounds in its homogenate. In adults, V. destructor parasitism decreased...
متن کاملReproduction of Varroa destructor in Africanized Honey Bees under the Tropical Conditions of Costa Rica
Varroa destructor is a worldwide ectoparasite of serious economic importance for beekeeping. Severe colony mortality is routine in parasitized European honey bees (EHB) colonies in Europe, Asia and North America. This study was carried out in Heredia, Costa Rica. The reproductive ability of varroa mites was determined approximately 240 h after cell sealing in worker brood from four Africanized ...
متن کاملWinter Survival of Individual Honey Bees and Honey Bee Colonies Depends on Level of Varroa destructor Infestation
BACKGROUND Recent elevated winter loss of honey bee colonies is a major concern. The presence of the mite Varroa destructor in colonies places an important pressure on bee health. V. destructor shortens the lifespan of individual bees, while long lifespan during winter is a primary requirement to survive until the next spring. We investigated in two subsequent years the effects of different lev...
